IN LOVELY MEMORY

June 22, 2015. We brought home a Bernese Mountain Dog and named him Sam. A friendly and gentle giant that would enrich our lives.

June 23, 2022, exactly seven years later, we had to put him to sleep and let him go. The vet had discovered several tumors in his body. We did not want him to suffer. Our world fell down, we cried our heart out when we carried him to his grave in our garden.

For several months I’ve been working on a tribute album with music of John Prine, one of my musical heroes. One of his musical heroes was Blaze Foley, who wrote this beautiful song ‘If I Could Only Fly’. I’d like to dedicate this cover to Sam. The lyrics went well together with some of the many pics and videos that make us smile and cry every time we watch them.

‘Sam Stone’ is the working title of the new album. This song was a smashing hit in the seventies for John Prine. we had Sam’s last picture was printer on a piece of slate.
